Imagine a perfectly harmonious orchestra — every instrument in its place, rhythm and melody in perfect balance. Life in a barn should work in much the same way: cows, pigs, sheep, and laying hens form their own unique “orchestra,” conducted by humans.

The Estonian Agricultural Museum’s new exhibition “Barn Symphony” explores the importance of farm animal welfare through the metaphor of music. What conditions must people create for animals to be healthy and calm — to “play together” like a well-conducted orchestra?

What happens when one “instrument” goes out of tune? Does a stressed sheep “bleat” differently? How does a hen feel if she cannot stretch her wings freely?

Come and discover whether it is possible to compose the “score” of a happy farm — and what role both humans and animals play in it.

“Barn Symphony” invites you to listen, observe, experiment, and think along.
